Walter Burkert, nado en Neuendettelsau, Baviera o 2 de febreiro de 1931, e finado en Zürich o 11 de marzo de 2015, foi un estudoso da relixión grega.[1]

editarProfesor emérito de cultura clásica da Universidade de Zürich (Suíza), tamén impartiu clases no Reino Unido e nos Estados Unidos. Foi experto en Filosofía da relixión e interveu no Círculo Eranos. En 2000 foille concedido o Premio Balzan e en 2003 foille conferido o Sigmund-Freud-Preis für wissenschaftliche Prosa.
