The Pains of Being Pure at Heart é unha banda de música estadounidense, especialmente de Nova York, do ámbito do pop. Dentro deste, mesturan diversos estilos como o shoegazing, o dream pop, noise pop, twee pop etc. A dicir deles mesmos, as súas influencias veñen de grupos como The Pastels, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Teenage Fanclub ou Ride. Tamén se lles comparou coas bandas antalogado no C86 polo magacine New Musical Express. No ano 2011 foi unha das bandas incluídas no cartel do festival Vigo Transforma.
