Morris West

Morris Langlo West, nado o 26 de abril de 1916 e finado o 9 de outubro de 1999, foi un novelista e dramaturgo australiano. É coñecido polas súas novelas The Devil's Advocate (1959), The Shoes of the Fisherman (1963) e The Clowns of God (1981). Os seus libros foron publicados en 27 linguas e venderon máis de 60 millóns de copias en todo o mundo. Cada novo libro que escribiu despois de converterse en escritor establecido vendeu máis dun millón de exemplares.

As obras de West centráronse a miúdo na política internacional e no papel da Igrexa católica nas relacións internacionais. Unha das súas obras máis célebres, The Shoes of the Fisherman (1963), describe a elección e a carreira dun eslavo como papa, 15 anos antes da histórica elección de Karol Wojtyła como Xoán Paulo II. A secuela, The Clowns of God, describe un papa que renuncia ó papado para vivir en illamento, 32 anos antes da abdicación de Bieito XVI en 2013.
