Sarre participou nos Xogos Olímpicos unha única vez en 1952, antes de unirse ao equipo alemán en 1956. Trinta e seis competidores, 31 homes e cinco mulleres, participaron en 32 probas en nove deportes.^[1] O Comité Olímpico Nacional de Sarre^[2] foi fundado na primavera de 1950 no Protectorado de Sarre, o cal existiu dende 1947 até 1956 (dende entón como o estado alemán de Sarre), unha rexión de Alemaña Occidental que foi ocupada en 1945 por Francia.
