Shigella boydii é unha bacteria gramnegativa do xénero Shigella. Igual que outros membros do seu xénero, S. boydii non é móbil, non forma esporas, é un bacilo e pode causar disentería en humanos por contaminación pola vía fecal-oral.[1]
Shigella boydii é a especie máis diverxente xeneticamente do xénero Shigella.[2] Coñécense 19 serotipos de Shigella boydii.[3][4][5] A distribución de S. boydii está restrinxida ao subcontinente indio.[4]
O nome da especie déuselle en honra do bacteriólogo estadounidense Mark Frederick Boyd.[6][7]
