Para seren [[paxaro]]s, son aves grandes ou medianas, oscilando o seu tamaño, desde as máis pequenas, desde a [[gralla cereixeira]] (hoxe clasificada como ''[[Coloeus monedula]]'', que é do tamaño dunha [[pomba]]), até o [[corvo grande]] da [[rexión holártica]], que mide entre os 52 e os 69 &nbsp;cm de lonxitude e pesa desde os 0,69 aos 1,7 &nbsp;kg.

As especies de ''Corvus'' son todas de cor negra ou negra cunha pquena parte da súa [[plumaxe]] gris ou branca. Son repoludos, e teñen [[peteiro]]s grosos e fortes [[pata]]s.
