Desde os anos 20 do pasado século, o concello de '''Cotobade''' viviu unha profunda regresión demográfica produto da emigración (na súa maior parte a [[Brasil]], [[México]] e [[Arxentina]]) que non foi corrixida ata o ano [[2005]]. Nesa data, por primeira vez en case un século, o crecemento vexetativo da poboación foi positivo (isto é, por primeira vez houbo un crecemento do número de habitantes).
