Glenn Ford

Modelo:Actor Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford, nado en Quebec o 1 de maio de 1916 e finado en Beverly Hills (California) o 30 de agosto de 2006 foi un actor canadense nacionalizado estadounidense coñecido como Glenn Ford.

Traxectoria

Ford era fillo dos anglo-quebequeses Hannah Wood Mitchell e Newton Ford, condutor de ferrocarrís. A través do seu pai era sobriño neto do primeiro Primeiro Ministro de Canadá Sir John A. Macdonald. Aos oito anos a familia mudouse a Santa Monica, California e nacionalizouse estadounidense en 1939.

Tras graduarse do instituto comezou a traballar en pequenos grupos de teatro. Entre outros traballos, foi xinete para Will Rogers. En 1939 foi contratado por Columbia Pictures, adoptando o seu nome artístico, adaptado da localidade de nacemento do seu pai, Glenford, Alberta.

Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial interrompeu a súa carreira cinematográfica para ingresar como voluntario nos marines. Tivo que abandonalos en 1944 por mor dunha úlcera duodenal que o tivera hospitalizado varios meses.

O papel que o deu a coñecer foi en Gilda con Rita Hayworth. A súa carreira floreceu nas décadas de 1950 e 1960 e chegou ata a de 1980, especialmente na televisión. O seu papel no filme Superman como Jonathan Kent, pai adoptivo de Clark Kent deuno a coñecer entre as novas xeracións. Na escea final de Ford neste filme escóitase a canción de Blackboard Jungle, "Rock Around the Clock", na radio dun coche.
