O '''Campionato Mundial de Fórmula 1 de 2002''' é o campionato anual número 53 de [[Fórmula 1]] organizado pola [[Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile]] (FIA). Con 17 [[Gran Premio de Fórmula 1|Grandes Premios]] no calendario, deu comezo o [[3 de marzo]], e rematou o [[13 de outubro]].
 
Parecía ser máis nada que unha batalla polo segundo ou terceiro posto na clasificación de pilotos para aqueles que competían porque [[Michael Schumacher]] terminou primeiro ou segundo en todas as carreiras agás no Gran Premio de Malaisia, onde terminou en terceiro lugar, polo que fixo podio en todas as carreiras. El acadou un record de 11 Grandes Premios gañados nuha tempada, superando a anterior marca de 9 vitorias, compartida por se mesmo ({{F1|1995}}, {{F1|2000}} e {{F1|2001}}) e Nigel Mansell ({{F1|1992}}). Tamén estableceu a marca de menor tempo no que se asegurou o [[Lista de pilotos campións do mundo de Fórmula 1|Campionato do Mundo de Pilotos]], asegurou o título cunha vitoria no Gran Premio de Francia, a falta de seis carreiras para o final da tempada. Schumacher logrou o título de pilotos por unha marxe de 67 puntos sobre o seu compañeiro [[Rubens Barrichello]], batendo a súa propia marca da tempada {{F1|2001}}. Schumacher e Barrichello axudaron a [[Scuderia Ferrari | Ferrari]] a acumular a mesma cantidade de puntos que o resto dos construtores no seu conxunto. But their entry was reject by the [[FIA]] for not purchasing all of the [[Prost Grand Prix]] team. They still attempted to race at Malaysia, but race officials prevented them from competing in the event, even with a court appeal.
