The Chameleons
The Chameleons (chamados The Chameleons UK nalgunhas edicións estadounidenses) foi unha banda de post-punk inglesa formada en Middleton, Greater Manchester en 1981. Estaba composta polo cantante e baixista Mark Burgess, os guitarristas Reg Smithies e Dave Fielding, e o batería John Lever (que substituíu o orixinal Brian Schofield). O cuarteto estivo ás veces acompañada ao vivo polos teclistas Alistair Lewthwaite e Andy Clegg nos anos 80, e polo percusionista e vocalista Kwasi Asante durante a súa reunión dos 2000.

A banda publicou o seu álbum de estrea, Script of the Bridge, en 1983. Foi seguido por What Does Anything Mean? Basically e Strange Times en 1985 e 1986, respectivamente, antes de separse abruptamente en 1987 debido á repentina morte do seu representante. Despois da separación Burgess e Lever formaron The Sun and the Moon, mentres que Fielding e Smithies crearon The Reegs. Burgess tamén tivo unha curta carreira en solitario coa banda de acompañamento The Sons of God.
The Chameleons reformouse no ano 2000, publicando os álbums Strip (2000), Why Call It Anything (2001), e This Never Ending Now (2002). Tensións renovadas causaron que o grupo se separase novamente en 2003. Burgess continúa tocando cancións de The Chameleons só baixo o nome de ChameleonsVox. Lever morreu en 2017.
