Dillen ten un título de Juris Doctor (dereito) da Facultade de Dereito de UC Berkeley e uniuse a Earthjustice en 2000.[11] Dirixiu os programas de enerxía limpa e carbón en Earthjustice.[7][12][13] Converteuse en directora executiva en 2018 substituíndo a Trip Van Noppen.[14]
Dillen foi colaboradora da antoloxía All We Can Save.[15][16] Tamén publicou artigos de opinión para USA Today, Huffington Post, The Hill, EcoWatch e outras fontes de noticias.[17][18]
